Description
Purchasing & Sourcing Agent Entry Level
Position Summary:
The Purchasing & Sourcing Agent supports the procurement team in sourcing quality products materials and services at competitive prices. This entry-level role focuses on vendor research price comparisons order processing and inventory coordination to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with sourcing new suppliers and maintaining relationships with existing vendors.
Request and compare quotes to obtain the best pricing and terms.
Prepare and issue purchase orders (POs) in a timely manner.
Track and follow up on order status delivery timelines and any discrepancies.
Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information in the system.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment needs with warehouse/production teams.
Support negotiations on pricing terms and contracts under guidance from senior staff.
Assist with resolving supplier issues related to quality delivery or billing.
Research new products materials or alternative suppliers to reduce costs or improve quality.
Ensure compliance with company policies and purchasing procedures.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree in business supply chain or related field preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Basic understanding of purchasing or supply chain processes is a plus (training provided).
Work Environment:
Office-based role with occasional visits to suppliers or warehouses.
Standard business hours; occasional overtime during peak demand periods.

Qualifications
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have authorization to work in the USA; no visa sponsorship available
- This position is based in Madison WI. No relocation available.
- Project Management Buyer or Supply Chain experience
- Experience with manufacturing processes or a willingness to learn through on-site supplier experience
- Strong written and verbal communication leadership and prioritization skills
- Team player
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to build consensus and drive decision making with expertise in coordinating cross-functional teams to accomplish objectives
- Intermediate Excel and Strong skills within the MS Office Suite
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of and experience with Quick Response Manufacturing Lean Manufacturing and related efforts
- Cycling industry experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Navision ERP software a plus.
