Job Description
Experienced and independent research position using bench and bioinformatics tools to develop and implement lab-specific projects. Ideal candidate executes experiments following protocols and compiles accurate records of data. The Research Scientist should have considerable experience in all aspects of bench research. Proficiency in molecular and cellular biology techniques microscopy animal husbandry as well as strong computer skills is required. Additionally will collaborate with faculty members in the performance and analysis of complex research studies grant and manuscript preparation and mentoring and training of laboratory research staff.
Job Duties:
Maintains knowledge of relevant scientific literature and technical resources to provide consultative educational technical and informational services as needed to staff and faculty.
Communicates the results of the study work to the general scientific community through publications and/or oral presentations.
Designs conducts and/or coordinates research studies and projects. Develops and evaluates new procedures and protocols.
Collaborates with faculty members and scientists in the performance and analysis of complex research studies.
Maintains accurate research records and presents data in group settings Independently performs various laboratory procedures including cell culture microscopy DNA RNA and protein isolation and manipulation PCR DNA sequencing.
May develop own specific project and/or protocols of specific research interest and within focus of the laboratory.
Participates in the development of new procedures and protocols in the conduct of research studies.
Collaborates with faculty in the preparation of manuscripts. Participates in development of grant proposals.
Train and supervise technical staff medical and graduate students and provides technical guidance to students post-doctoral fellows and faculty as required.
Performs other job functions as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Masters degree in public health or related field Ph.D. preferred.
Seven (7) plus years of experience with a wide range of research methodologies statistical procedures and progressively more complex analytic methodologies.
Four (4) plus years of experience working with complex data systems either administrative data or data collected for research or public health purposes.
Demonstrated effective leadership capabilities.
Excellent written verbal and presentation communication skills. Ability to display complex data analyses in an easy-to-understand manner.
Ability to facilitate complex conversations with multiple stakeholders to define and carry out analytic projects effectively.

$34.00-$55.59 HourlyAt Lurie Childrens we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity reflecting individual contributions experience and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.In addition to base salary Lurie Childrens offer a comprehensive rewards package that may include differentials for some hourly employees leadership incentivesfor select roles health and retirement benefits and wellbeing programs.
