Job Description

As a Commercial Finance Specialist you will be responsible for leading a team of shaft Commercial Advisors for the Amandelbult Mine performance reporting and supporting the Commercial Manager for the operation. You will be responsible for not only the coordination and management of key deliverables but also for driving key business improvement commercial strategic initiatives and building a high-performance team. The Commercial Finance Specialist will need to provide commercial insights to support decision making and ensuring adherence to governance policies. Some of the specific tasks that are also required include:

  • Preparing Amandelbult Mine weekly monthly quarterly interim and year-end (or as required) management reports ensuring key issues are highlighted with focus on key
  • Assist and advise discipline Managers & Superintendents to develop budgets e.g. by providing insights into financial data and consolidating inputs
  • Provide business case modelling support for on-site SIB capital make recommendations on capital expenditure decisions to the disciplines
  • Support preparation of financial forecasts that includes forward looking risks and opportunities
  • Collaborate with discipline to develop risk register proactively providing financial evaluation (cost/capital) of risk mitigation strategies
  • Serve as contact point for financial information & detailed advice for finance discipline teams
  • Provide discipline-specific financial reports and analysis
  • Drive delivery the sustainability activities as relevant to discipline and set out in the Life of Asset Plan to improve sustainability performance over time
  • Analyse performance and anticipate research and resolve issues. Includes identifying the impact of operating anomalies adverse financial trends changes in policies and reporting requirements and evaluating the impact on reported results
  • Manage compliance of the teams within work area with external (legislative regulatory permitting) local requirements as a minimum level of site performance
  • Participate in Valterra Platinum led performance and diagnostic reviews and provide supporting analysis as required by mine management and corporate teams
  • Liaise effectively with key business contacts and build up strong working relationships

This role is at a band 6 level reporting to the Commercial Manager.


Qualifications :

  • Postgraduate/Tertiary qualifications within Business Accounting Finance Economics
  • CIMA/CA(SA) advantageous  
  • Experience

  • 3-5 years management experience 2 years of which should be in a Mining/PGMs environment.
  • Experience in Financial Management systems Essbase and SAP
  • Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent financial acumen
  • Advanced data analysis and management
  • Proficient in mine financial systems and related legislation
  • Advanced computer literacy (PowerPoint Advanced excel Word)
  • Proficient in budgeting and forecasting Actuals data submissions financial modelling
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English
