Job Description
The Ventilation Officer is responsible for the maintenance of ventilation and occupational hygiene systems and to provide the immediate supervisor with information to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Sets daily- weekly- and monthly ventilation and occupational hygiene routine schedules.
- Determines the need for and assists in the development of ventilation and occupational hygiene procedures and standards.
- Advises on changes to plans and schedules to minimise the effect of unexpected or unsafe work practices.
- Stops the operation if the working conditions are unsafe/unhealthy.
- Identifies employees suitable for further training.
- Decides on disciplinary action to agreed parameters and procedures.
- Interpret and act on ventilation and occupational hygiene-related legislation.
This role is in the MRM department at a C5 level reporting to the Section Ventilation Officer.
Qualifications :
- Chamber of Mines Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
- Preferred additional:
- Certificate in Environmental Health
- Certificate in Occupational Hygiene
- Certificate in Occupational Hygiene Risk Assessment
- Certificate in Occupational Hygiene Legislation
Knowledge Skills experience required:
- Experience of at least 2 years in the Mining and / or Refining environment
- Practical experience of at least 2 years in the Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene Field.
