Job Description

Introduction

The Risk Manager will be responsible for Guardrisk Group and all its insurance licenses under its management control and exposure to international insurance licenses in the Group.



Role Purpose

The successful applicant will be responsible for identifying assessing managing monitoring and reporting of risk as well as the management of the enterprise risk management framework. The Risk Manager reports to the Head of Risk: Corporate and will work closely with support and planning units across Guardrisk. The risk manager will also work closely with the Momentum Group as well as the relevant Regulatory bodies. The Risk Manager as part of the risk management function acts as second line of defence within Guardrisk and responsible for all risk types (Financial NonFinancial Business and Strategic).



Duties & Responsibilities
  • To develop implement and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework to ensure Guardrisk effectively identifies and manages its risk exposures across companywide risks
  • Review and maintain all subpolicies of the enterprise risk management framework such as the risk appetite statement risk taxonomy risk escalation policies etc
  • Develop and maintain various risk tools (risk events KRIs RCSAs CSAs etc) for implementation in business
  • Manage and maintain the policy review cycles including all policies within Guardrisk and ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Implementation of the annual risk management strategy / plan
  • Design and deliver training programs to enhance risk awareness and risk management capabilities across Guardrisk
  • Promote a riskaware culture by integrating risk management into the Guardrisk processes and decisionmaking
  • Develop and maintain crisis management and operational resiliency plans
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies internal and external auditors as required
  • Develop implement and maintain the Environmental Sustainability and Governance programme for Guardrisk
  • Manage monitor and maintain financial risks
  • Implementation of Project and Programme management (policies reporting etc)
  • Implementation and monitoring of third party risk management
  • Implementation and monitoring of fraud risk management
  • Keep abreast of relevant risk developments externally and ensure it is considered in the risk profile for the business
  • Preparation of MANCO CAF ARC Board packs
  • Ensure data integrity in risk profile reports
  • Regulatory reporting (SCR returns adhoc requests onsite audits etc)
  • Embed risk culture within Guardrisk through various initiatives (training surveys awareness etc)
  • Facilitate reviews of the risk appetite statement to ensure it remains appropriate and recommend changes where this may be required
  • Monitoring of appropriate key risk indicators together with associated tolerances limits and related reporting
  • Undertake periodic risk assessments working with the various risk owners and ensure that the risk registers are kept up to date
  • Manage the own risk and solvency assessment (ORSA) process including coordinating all related inputs outputs assessments and reporting
  • Critical review of existing and/or development of new risk reports to ensure that they are suitable and useful to aid in decision making
  • Liaising with and exchanging information with the other assurance providers as part of the combined assurance approach
  • Identifying current/actual and emerging risks through evaluating internal and external risk environment on a continuous basis
  • Aggregating monitoring and advising management on the effective management and mitigation of identified risks
  • Risk monitoring on risk appetite risk registers loss data combined assurance key risk indicators and emerging risks
  • Maintaining updated risk registers for applicable entities in the Group
  • Management of the corporate ERM risk management team


Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in risk management Finance Business Administration or a related field
  • Global Association of Risk Professionals: FRM (advantageous)
  • Extensive experience in risk management preferably in an ERM function
  • Knowledge of any of the wellknown ERM frameworks (i.e. COSO)
  • Good understanding of Solvency Assessment & Management (SAM)
  • Above average working knowledge of MS Office and Risk Management Software platforms
  • Understanding or exposure to basic quantitative risk management concepts
  • At least 7 9 years experience in financial sector with at least 6 years in risk management
  • Meticulous attention to detail in assessing and managing risks
  • Adaptability and flexibility to respond to emerging risks and changing regulatory/ business environments
