Job Description

This role is responsible to execute effective communication processes and plans across OML Communications. The role monitors adherence to communications playbooks and frameworks.

Duration: 12 months contract

Operational Delivery

• Execute communication plans

• Execute and report on communication initiatives and campaigns

  • Execute on the communications plan as aligned to Group Communications business plan

  • Syndicate and select suitable content for publication internally and externally

  • Create and edit communications content

  • Distribute communications to identified target audience

• Maintain the communication platform landscape:

  • Identify communication platform needs / opportunities

  • Work alongside OM enablement and business units to investigate recommend build and implement communications platforms

• Advise communication teams on channel effectiveness and internal optimal communication mixes given the channel and the target audience

• Assurance / governance

  • Define internal platform effectiveness indicators; metrics and targets that measure communication & channel effectiveness based on behaviour change measured (awareness; understanding; participation)

  • Monitor internal platform indicators metrics and targets

• Engages with OML spokespeople to provide support in delivering the corporate narrative

• Communications assurance & governance framework and mechanisms:

  • Adhere to communications playbooks

  • Socialize communications policies principles house views and frameworks

  • Support the compliance to policies principles house views and frameworks and assist in dealing with non-adherence

  • Implement COE specific compliance requirements

People

• Accountable for service delivery through own efforts

• Collaborates effectively with others to achieve personal results

• Individually accountable for managing own time tasks and output quality over periods of up to a year

Finance and Governance
Understand interpret and implement COE specific compliance requirements within Public Affairs delivery

Requirements: Skills Qualifications Experience required :

• Minimum Qualifications/Experience

• Relevant degree or qualification in Media studies or Communications

• Sound experience in the delivery of communication plans and content

• Experience in using digital platforms and channels

Additional Qualifications/Experience (preferred not a requirements)

• 4-7 years solid experience in media monitoring and evaluation. Analysing media metrics

• Relationships with relevant media across South Africa

• Strong project management skills

• Experience in broader Communications and Public Affairs environment

• Strong Reputation Management Experience

• Knows the business landscape (Business value chain and key operational areas). Knows the business product/service offering to its customers. Knows broadly the type of market within which the business operates including the key competitors

• Develops suitable and engaging content and thought leadership for a specific and well-defined target audience. Knows the needs of the target audience in content development. Knows how to develop content to suit the platforms or channels it will be published to. Knows how to align content to corporate identity and brand guidelines. Displays sound written communications ability

Corporate Communication

• Implements communication plans for internal and external communications to stakeholders. Knows how to align key messages to the needs of stakeholders and the corporate narrative. Intermediate skills in delivering integrated marketing communications campaigns using both physical and digital tools. Ensures that the communication outcomes will support the brand. Intermediate skills in press and media relations management

Digital Marketing

• Intermediate skills in using digital channels to deliver delivering marketing content. Knows the different types of digital channels that are used. Knows the uses of each channel. Knows the ethics and rules around brand privacy etc. when using digital channels

Reputation Management

• Knows the impact of the corporate reputation on the business and the key reputation drivers that should be managed. Knows how a corporate reputation is assessed. Considers the impact of own work outputs on the corporate reputation

Media & Stakeholder Sector Knowledge and Engagement

• SA Continental and Global knowledge contacts (preferred) and experience engaging with
