Job Description
Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Engineering
-
Configure deploy and maintain secure Azure environments (Azure VMs Virtual Networks Blob Storage Azure AD DNS Zones ExpressRoute etc.)
-
Manage hybrid connectivity using Azure VPN Gateway (IPSec SSL) ExpressRoute Azure Virtual WAN and Azure File Sync
-
Implement Zero Trust Architecture with Azure AD Conditional Access RBAC encryption (at rest/in transit) and network segmentation
-
Ensure compliance with industry standards and frameworks (e.g. POPIA ISO 27001 CIS benchmarks)
-
Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform ARM templates or Bicep
-
Design and implement scalable highly available and cost-optimized systems using services like Azure Scale Sets Azure Functions App Services and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
-
Set up monitoring and logging using native tools like Azure Monitor Log Analytics Azure Security Center and Defender for Cloud
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align cloud initiatives with business and IT strategies
-
3 5 years of hands-on experience in Azure cloud engineering

Strong understanding of hybrid cloud environments (Azure on-premise VMware)

Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform ARM Bicep

Deep knowledge of core Azure services:

Azure VMs VNet Blob Storage Azure AD Azure DNS ExpressRoute Load Balancer NSGs
-

Familiarity with VPN technologies: IPSec SSL ExpressRoute
-
Understanding of networking services: DNS DHCP SD-WAN
-
Experience with identity and access protocols: SAML 2.0 OAuth 2.0 OpenID Connect
-
Scripting skills: PowerShell Python or Bash
-
Strong experience with Zero Trust principles encryption standards and network isolation
-
Excellent communication and documentation skills
-
Comfortable collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
-
AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional (nice to have for hybrid cloud)
-
5 years of experience across cloud and on-prem platforms
-
Hands-on experience with VMware Hyper-V or other virtualization platforms
-
Familiarity with Azure migration tools (Azure Migrate Azure Site Recovery) or third-party migration platforms
