Our client is looking for an Farm Manager preferably with a knowledge of Environmentally Controlled houses to join their team.
Applicants must have at least 10 years of experience rearing chickens in a managerial position as well as knowledge of best agricultural practices with an ability to provide more value adding initiative on the farm.

Key Responsibilities:
Production Cycle Management
- Oversee the entire broiler production cycle including chick placement brooding growing and finishing stages.
- Monitor bird growth and health throughout the cycle identifying and addressing potential issues promptly.
- Implement proper feeding strategies to optimize feed conversion ratio.
- Manage ventilation control systems to maintain optimal environmental conditions for birds.
- Monitor flock health identifying and treating diseases as needed.
- Ensure proper vaccination schedules are followed.
- Comply with animal welfare regulations and best practices.
Staff Management
- Lead and supervise a team of farm workers assigning tasks to other areas of the farm to ensure a maximum return is derived from the farm.
- Monitor staff performance and provide feedback.
- Ensure all staff adhere to safety protocols and biosecurity procedures.
Record Keeping and Data Analysis
- Maintain detailed records on bird growth mortality rates feed consumption medication usage and other relevant data.
- Analyse data to identify areas for improvement and optimize flock performance.
- Generate reports for management regarding production metrics.
Facility Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of broiler houses and equipment.
- Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation procedures are followed.
- Order necessary supplies and materials.
Key Skills:
- Agricultural Background: Strong understanding of poultry production practices particularly broiler breeding and management.
- Animal Welfare Knowledge: Awareness of animal welfare standards and best practices in poultry farming.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of workers.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in analysing production data to identify trends and make informed decisions.
- Technical Skills: Understanding of environmental controlled chicken houses ventilation systems feeding equipment and other farm machinery.
- Compliance Expertise: Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
- Primarily based on a broiler farm requiring frequent outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- May involve long hours including weekends and holidays depending on production demands.
Key Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Animal Science Agriculture or related field preferred.
