Job Description
AgriTech and AI Learnership Programme 2025
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Hazyview Mpumalanga
Programme Purpose:
A specialized 12-month learnership designed to empower young individuals from Mpumalanga with foundational knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and its practical applications in the Agricultural Sector. The programme will focus on leveraging the Internet of Things (IoT) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to promote innovation efficiency and sustainability in farming to improve crop yields and quality.
Role/Stream Focus Areas:
The curriculum is structured to build technical expertise from the ground up focusing on:
AI Tools Bootcamp: An initial phase to equip all participants with essential AI tools and skills.
Agritech Specialisation: A deep dive into the application of technology in agriculture including
- Sustainable Agricultural Land Management
- Internet of Things (IoT)-Enabled Farming
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for agriculture

Minimum Candidate Requirements:
Minimum Qualification:
- A matric certificate with a strong performance in agricultural sciences is essential.
- A basic computer literacy certificate (e.g. ICDL or an equivalent) is a firm requirement.
Work Experience (if any): While not mandatory demonstrated interest or prior experience in the agricultural sector is highly advantageous. This could include personal farming experience previous farm work or involvement in community agriculture projects.
Other Requirements: Tertiary qualifications such as a National Diploma or Degree in Agriculture or Electronic Engineering are highly desirable.
Location Preference: Candidates must be based in or near Hazyview or be willing to relocate for the duration of the programme.
Notice: Applicants who have attended more than two prior academies at GWF or are currently/have been enrolled in other training with VillageUp or CAPACITI would be ineligible for this programme.
