Job Description

A private safari operation situated within a protected area of the Greater Kruger is looking for a young energetic and bush-savvy Assistant Warden to support the day-to-day running of the reserve and associated camp infrastructure. This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about conservation and reserve life eager to grow under the mentorship of an experienced warden and be involved in a broad range of field and operational responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Warden in the daily operations and management of the reserve and lodge infrastructure

  • Supervise and support maintenance teams including fence patrols water reticulation and road upkeep
    Conduct regular bush patrols and security checks

  • Participate in conservation work such as game monitoring alien plant control and ecological assessments
    Assist with the coordination and oversight of contractors deliveries and logistics

  • Ensure health safety and environmental compliance across all departments

  • Stand in for the Warden during times of absence

  • Engage with guests and staff in a professional positive and proactive manner when required



Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Nature Conservation Wildlife Management or a related field

  • Valid Driver s License (PDP advantageous)

  • Minimum 1 2 years field or bush operations experience

  • Technically and practically inclined with a hands-on approach

  • Physically fit and confident working in remote bush environments

  • Comfortable using GPS and basic computer software for reporting

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Young enthusiastic and eager to grow in the reserve management field

  • Bush-savvy with a natural instinct for problem solving in outdoor environments

  • A positive can-do attitude with a willingness to learn from experienced leadership

  • Flexible and adaptable to the dynamic nature of life in the bush
