Job Description

Job purpose :

To oversee and manage the organisations fleet of vehicles ensuring the efficient operation maintenance and compliance with all safety and regulatory Fleet Manager will be responsible for vehicle tracking inspections repairs andoverall fleet optimisation to support the companys operational objectives.

This position reports to the Fleet and Driver Manager.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure all fleet vehicles are regularly inspected maintained and compliant with national road saftey standards and regulations.
  • Enforce a comprehensive vehicle inspection program covering pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the fleet including vehicle allocation tracking and maintenance schedules.
  • Track and manage vehicle maintenance repairs and service records to downtime and optimal vehicle performance.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • training monitoring and performance evaluation to enhance driver safety andefficiency.
  • It is required of you to work until your daily responsibilities are completed whichmight result in you working longer than normally
  • Capturing of delivery teams hours and ensure accruals are sent on tomanagement
  • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives by optimizing fleet operations including fuel management route planning and vehicle utilization.
  • Manage daily staff and overtime efficiently to ensure labour cost is controlled.
  • Extracts data and generates reports which will assist in performance tracking and decision making.
  • All administrative documentation is labelled and filed as per procedures.
  • All daily weekly and monthly reports/ meeting minutes are up to date
  • KPI reports sent out timeously daily and are posted on notice boards
  • Trains and supervise employees to carry out the functions under their control.
  • Ensure that all staff are at work and attendance is 100%. All absent staff to have suitable corrective action to be taken consistently.
  • Measure and manage staff through formal staff appraisals development coachingand disciplinary procedures.
  • Effective leadership and direction for the team through involvement andcommunication to deliver on the relevant key business drivers
  • Ensure 5S housekeeping standards are implemented and maintained
  • Implement and maintain health and safety standards.
  • Ensure the team complies to COVID19 protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Matric
  • Tertiary qualification preferred
  • 2 years Management experience
  • 1-3 years employment in a full Dispatch operations environment or wearhouse
