Job Description
Our client is looking for a Software Engineer (Advanced) - Hybrid: Midrand/Menlyn/Rosslyn/Home Office rotation

POSITION: Contract: 01 October 2025 31 December 2028
EXPERIENCE: 4-6 Years operations experience

LOCATION: Hybrid: Midrand/Menlyn/Rosslyn/Home Office rotation
TEAM: Identification and Positioning Systems - RTLS Operations
Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum 5 years operations working experience
- Relevant technical background preferred
Essential Skills Requirements
- Excellent experience PIC processes (Problem Incident and Change management)
- Excellent experience in operation of production-critical software
- Excellent experience in cooperation with internal and external teams (including Provider management experience)
- Infrastructure Management (Cloud and on-Prem)
- Experience with Unix/Linux/Windows operating systems internals and administration or in-depth knowledge of the Unix networking stack
- Experience in BASH Python or PowerShell scripting
- Experience with containerized Middleware (Docker Docker Swarm Kubernetes)
- Solid understanding of monitoring and alerting practices (tools e.g Grafana Prometheus Elasticsearch) be able to develop new application metrics
- Experience with public cloud and hosting (AWS Azure)
- Solid understanding of infrastructure as code principles and practical experience with Terraform or similar tool
- Any additional responsibilities assigned in the Agile Working Model (AWM) Charter
Advantageous Skills Requirements
- Excellent technical understanding of IT systems
- In-depth network know-how: Subnetting Routing Firewalling DNS (reverse)-proxies & understanding of OSI layers
- Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems internals and administration or in-depth knowledge of the Unix networking stack
- Experience in developing software with Csharp
- Ability to work independently and working together in a team
- Ability to take over responsibility in assigned working area
- Highly confident and structured approach to work even in the event of high impact high-stress-level incidents
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills with ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with colleagues from all types of educational/intellectual backgrounds
- Flexibility to take up different tasks in the project willingness to roam around a subset of project components
- Ability and willingness to coach and give training to fellow colleagues in deep-dive workshops and pair-programming sessions
- Willing and able to travel internationally (twice a year)
- Above-board work ethics
Role Requirements
- Team member of a larger product team that focuses on the development operate and support of several mission-critical components together with external partners.
- Working on large-scale fault-tolerant systems and thrive to always improve the resiliency of systems
- Work closely with the product owner and are responsible for the planning and co-ordination of all Run activities
- Strive to ensure continuous improvement for mission-critical systems
- As a Site Reliability Engineer with deep understanding of the underlaying systems take part in 24/7 on-call rotations with teams around the world and can restore systems in efficient manner
