ABOUT US
TheMaxwell Underground Mine owned byMalabar Resources Ltdhas commenced operations at their Hunter Valley site with production projected of up to 8 million tonnes of coal per annum. With a long life the underground mine targets high quality coal with the majority being metallurgical coal.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We currently have a number of opportunities for individuals looking to kick start their careers in the underground coal mining industry. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as a New to Industry Mechanical Tradesperson. This is a fantastic opportunity for those new to the industry to bring your current trade skills and experience to develop valuable skills employing these qualifications in a dynamic and challenging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop your skills with other experienced tradespeople in maintaining and repairing mining equipment
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
- Develop competency working in the underground mining environment to allow you to work independently
- Learn and apply industry-specific skills and techniques
- Contribute to the overall efficiency and productivity of mining operations
- Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Certificate of proficiency (Mechanical Trade)
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- The ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to safety and environmental regulations
- Willingness to work shiftwork
- Be willing and able to undertake an Order 43 Medical including drug and alcohol screening.
- Prior experience working on underground mining equipment would be advantageous for all trade holders.
- Prior experience for mechanical trade holders working with fluid power systems diesel engine systems and mobile plant would be advantageous.
