As the Senior Data Analyst at the Bank you will play a pivotal role across the entire business in driving the data-driven decision-making processes. You will also form part of the Analytics Chapter a central function within the Enablement Tribe. This role will require working across squads to deliver on Enterprise data needs and analysis.

Reporting directly to the Chapter Lead you will be responsible for working across the business delivering business intelligence and analytical needs within the bank. This will include playing a key role as an Analytical Chapter evangelist communicating and effectively embedding the enterprise standards defined within the Analytical Chapter.

Senior Analysts play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and data-driven solutions.

This role is a new role which presents an exciting opportunity to shape the analytics function within an exciting digital bank.

KEY RESULT AREAS

Responsibilities - Deliver on 3 core functions within the chapter:

Control

  • Adhere to data and analytical standards and governance
  • Use and expand on the peer review process and implement best standards when it comes to analytical processes tooling and model lifecycle management

Serve

  • Support business needs with tailored analytics services.
  • Conduct feasibility analyses for projects.
  • Develop and deliver regular reports to stakeholders.
  • Participate in learning events to foster skill development.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis to address specific business questions.

Learn

  • Actively partake in Analytical Community Events
  • Share expertise and knowledge to support business wide analytical growth
  • Pursue opportunities for professional development and certifications.

Data Requirements Gathering and Analysis

  • Identify clarify and agree data and analytics requirements.
  • Consults with business (product owners) to understand and document their analytics requirements.
  • Adopts multiple actions with stakeholders to elicit the requirements; uses engagement sessions document analysis user cases scenarios and modelling.
  • Assists stakeholders (e.g. Product owners/managers) with data-related requests including dashboard development or ad hoc analysis.
  • Applies end-to-end best practice to deliver BI and analytics requirements.
  • Ensures appropriate testing is done and provides the business with assistance during user acceptance testing.
  • Collaborates with business stakeholders to design intuitive and user-friendly dashboards that provide actionable insights at a glance.
  • Applies business data and analytics functional knowledge at all times to identify improvements opportunities and motivate with business.
  • Works closely with the BIBAs Data stewards and Data engineers to design refine and implement data and analytics solutions to execute the functional design of the relevant data and analytics solution. Including reports dashboards or ad hoc analysis.
  • Owns personal continued professional development to remain current with data and analytics industry trends particularly around data and analytics tools and technologies.

Support Data Management

  • Provides input to data governance and data product quality assurance; identifies and communicates potential risks and issues.
  • Ensures the accuracy reliability and consistency BI solutions by performing data validation and troubleshooting.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for enhancing BI capabilities processes and methodologies to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Stakeholder Management Training and Support

  • Function as a liaison between business stakeholders Data Chapter and Data Platform team to ensure alignment of BI initiatives with business objectives.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on BI tools reports and dashboards to maximize adoption and utilization.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of BI requirements design specifications and user guides to facilitate knowledge sharing and project continuity.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 5 years of experience in business intelligence and data analysis
  • Proven experience in gathering and analysing business requirements designing BI solutions and delivering insights to stakeholders.
  • At least 5 years Liaising between business and functional stakeholders; translating requirements experience.
  • 3 Years Analytical experience in a finance/banking environment
  • Understanding of and experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving skills and awareness of the Data Product Life Cycle (DPLC) and Analytical Lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment in an Agile framework.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Mentoring skills especially for guiding junior analysts or team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and development.

Qualifications:

  • Matric
  • Degree in Data Science Statistics or a related field.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualisation tools (SQL Python R SAS AWS QuickSight Power BI).
  • AWS Certification would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and project management practices including Scrum Kanban and Lean
