Job Description

Hotel Manager Luxury Boutique Hotel Ballito
Salary: Negotiable Depending on Experience Live-Out Position

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a Hotel Manager for a luxury boutique hotel based in Ballito. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of an exceptional 5-star hospitality environment supporting the General Manager in ensuring all departments deliver consistent high-quality guest experiences.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with a hands-on approach and a commitment to excellence able to coordinate across departments and maintain the highest service standards throughout the property.


Key Responsibilities:

General Operations:

  • Support the General Manager with the day-to-day operations of all hotel departments

  • Monitor implementation of service standards and ensure protocol and etiquette appropriate to a 5-star environment

  • Maintain a visible presence with both staff and guests

Front Office:

  • Oversee smooth running of reception and front office areas

  • Ensure professional check-in and check-out procedures

  • Manage guest relations including VIP and special requests

  • Ensure accurate reservation records and guest billing

  • Handle guest feedback and complaints promptly and effectively

Food & Beverage:

  • Ensure a high standard of service delivery and guest satisfaction

  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to maintain a quality food offering

  • Engage with guests during mealtimes and manage event enquiries

  • Oversee inventory control and accurate billing processes

Housekeeping:

  • Maintain exceptional cleanliness and presentation of rooms and public areas

  • Conduct regular property walks and room checks

  • Monitor stock levels and linen quality including logging of spoilage

Maintenance:

  • Log and follow up on all maintenance issues

  • Ensure systems are in place to track and complete repairs timeously

Health & Safety:

  • Oversee monthly health & safety audits and ensure issues are addressed

  • Conduct committee meetings and maintain relevant documentation

Human Resources:

  • Assist with recruitment onboarding and training of staff

  • Ensure accurate records are maintained on HR systems

  • Monitor staff files and support employee relations as needed

Administration:

  • Ensure compliance with operational controls policies and SOPs

  • Work closely with department heads to meet business objectives

  • Monitor and manage costs budgets and staff rosters

  • Submit accurate reports and support internal communications


Requirements:

  • Diploma in Hotel Management or related qualification

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a Hotel Manager role preferably within a luxury environment

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); a second official South African language is beneficial

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and hotel management systems (e.g. Opera ESS)

  • Able to work flexible hours and stand for extended periods
