Job Description

Anticipated contract length/Duration: August 1st 2025 - June 30th 2026

Our client in the global professional services industry is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Administrator to manage and oversee the full payroll function. This individual will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing administration and reporting of employee compensation using Sage 300 People. As a Senior Payroll Administrator you will collaborate closely with Human Resources and Finance teams to ensure that payroll processes adhere to internal standards and are compliant with relevant legislative requirements.

What you will do:

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all employees using Sage 300 People.
  • Oversee the organisations payroll function and systems to ensure efficient and accurate processing.
  • Ensure all payroll activities are executed in line with company policy internal controls and legislative requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive payroll records reports and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable national provincial and local wage tax and employment laws.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources and Finance departments to align on data accuracy reporting and payment schedules.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll-related inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct periodic audits of payroll data and records to ensure compliance and data integrity.
  • Prepare tax reports and assist with monthly quarterly and year-end payroll tax filings.
  • Support payroll-related audits including statutory and internal audits.
  • Lead or support payroll improvement initiatives and special projects as needed ensuring implementation of payroll best practices.

Qualifications :

  • A relevant Payroll or Accounting qualification is advantageous.
  • 8 years of progressive experience in payroll administration processing and management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Sage 300 People payroll system is essential.
  • Strong understanding of South African payroll legislation tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience handling confidential employee information with discretion.
  • High attention to detail with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise effectively across departments.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and proficiency in MS Excel or other payroll reporting tools.
  • Experience working within a large matrixed organisation or a professional services environment.
  • Prior involvement in process improvement initiatives or payroll system implementations.
