Technician

Minimum requirements- National Diploma within the discipline of dry processing of Textile Technology.
- is the preference.
- A minimum of 2 years relevant technical/ textile industry experience e.g. in technology manufacturing processes. (Textile technology-related teaching or training experience in Higher Education industry or training institutions).
- Sound knowledge of the technical aspects of yarn and fabric manufacturing product engineering including but not limited to fabric construction quality and raw materials.
- Understanding of all equipment and systems in the above-related laboratories.
- Sound communication skills use of MS Office (Word Excel and PowerPoint).

- Undertake tasks as directed by the Head of Department or the Academic in charge.
- Maintain a clean organized and safe environment for laboratories equipment and consumables at all times.
- Assist in the delivery of practical sessions assessment of students practical work and training of students in the correct and safe use of equipment to carry out tasks in a disciplined manner.
- Manage the opening and closing of laboratories during practical sessions and open access periods.
- Oversee inventory control and equipment management to ensure efficient stock levels.
- Support budget preparation for consumables and equipment needs.
- Perform administrative duties engage in community initiatives and contribute to third-stream income activities as assigned by the Head of Department.
- Take accountability for personal professional development.
- Participate in departmental activities including community engagement and research initiatives.
