Nurse Unit Manager
Newcastle Private Hospital - Intensive Care Unit
Full Time Role Monday to Friday
An exciting opportunity exists for a Nurse Unit Manager in the Intensive Care Unit of Newcastle Private Hospital. As the Nurse Unit Manager- ICU you will provide leadership through strategic initiatives and day-to-day operational requirements.

Come and join our expert team of surgeons specialist doctors dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private are a 189 bed acute private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospitalhas11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.
We also havea cardiac suite includinga cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery isavailable for families in the Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.
As the Intensive Care Unit Manager you will:
Ensure that the model of nursing care within the department is relationship- centred with optimal patient safety and outcomes
Coordinate patient services including admission/discharge liaison with the interdisciplinary teams clinical emergency response teams and the ICU outreach services
Provide clinical support and guidance where required
Understandlegislative requirements and national standards
Identify opportunities for program development and enhancement of services facilitate and support quality teamwork within the service and with other departments of Newcastle Private Hospital
Encourage a participatory team approach to clinical care canvass ideas and strategies to enhance care and service delivery
Work closely with intensive care specialists physicians surgeons and anaesthetists to ensure delivery of high-quality care efficiency of services and to develop a strong working relationship with these doctors

Essential Criteria:
Current registration with AHPRA Registered Nurse
Post graduate qualification in intensive care/critical care nursing
Advanced clinical competence
Demonstrated recent experience in a clinical leadership role/s
Proven experience building and leading high performing teams with a service excellence approach
Passionate about building strong relationships and delivering exceptional patient experiences
Demonstrated skills in workforce planning rostering creativity and working within budget
High level of planning and organisational skills
Strong influencing and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to adapt personal style to suit a varied audience & a variety of interpersonal styles
Well-developed oral and written communication skills
High degree of computer literacy
Desirable Criteria
Post graduate qualification in leadership or health management (or equivalent) or working towards
