Job Description
Position: Bus Driver/Garage Helper ($2000 sign-on bonus**)
Description: The position of Bus Driver under the direction of the Transportation Supervisor is responsible for the safe transportation of students of the Constantine Public School District. This position may also include extra hours as a helper in the garage with light maintenance of the fleet.
Assignment/Responsibilities:
- Drive a school bus safely and professionally.
- Show proficiency in handling students.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Comply with all traffic ordinances.
- Attend training as required.
- Transport vehicles to and from the maintenance garage location.
- Review maintenance needs with Transportation supervisor
- Light-duty maintenance on vehicles. (non-mechanic duties)
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Yearly DOT physical
- Current CDL license B with air brake and P & S endorsements
- Pass drug/alcohol test and criminal records check
- Maintain a good driving record
- School bus training as required by the State of Michigan
* Training will be provided paid by the district
**Sign-on bonus applies to drivers hired during the 2025/2026 school year only. Payment of the bonus will be made upon completion of a successful year of service.
