About the Role
We're working with a leading UK renewable energy company to find an experienced Senior Technical Lead to drive the design, optimisation, and delivery of high-quality Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across both commercial and domestic projects.
In this role, you'll take charge of the full technical lifecycle from feasibility studies to pre-construction handover ensuring robust, cost-effective, and compliant solutions that set the standard in UK renewable energy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead PV solar and BESS system design, producing layouts, SLDs, and schematics using PV*Sol, AutoCAD, and similar tools.
Conduct site assessments, irradiance/shading analysis, and yield estimations.
Manage grid connection design and liaise with DNOs/IDNOs for G99/G100 applications.
Ensure full compliance with BS/IEC standards, Building Regulations, and electrical safety codes.
Oversee system sizing, energy modelling, and battery optimisation.
Review designs from junior engineers and external contractors.
Prepare BOMs, specifications, risk assessments, and O&M manuals.
Support bids and tenders with accurate technical and cost input.
Provide technical leadership through design, construction, and commissioning.
Keep ahead of UK renewable energy regulations and industry innovations.
What We're Looking For
5-7 years' solar PV design experience, with at least 2 years in a senior/lead role.
Proven BESS integration and design expertise.
Proficient with PV*Sol, AutoCAD, G99/G100, and ENA EREC standards.
Strong understanding of UK electrical/safety regulations, CDM 2015, and BS/IEC standards.
Effective communicator and proven team leader.
Qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or equivalent.
Familiarity with MCS, G98/G99, and solar monitoring systems.
Desirable:
Degree or Chartered Engineer status.
Experience with planning/permitting processes.
Previous bidding or sales support involvement.
