The Field Lead - Operations (FLO) will be responsible for the success of all aspects of Backroads operations in location. The FLO will function as the primary operational liaison between OpXs and the Operations Hub. FLOs will be the point of contact for each OpX in their area. Key partnerships will include OpXs and TPSs in the field FLOs of other regions hub-based Operations Specialists and Managers Scheduling Leader Development and Regional Managers and Leads.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise OpXs in determining Field Staff house and warehouse needs timely execution of deliverables and delivery of Field Staff facing documents such as Welcome Documents Unit Schedules and Bed Booking

  • Contribute to Field Staff House and Warehouse budget including participating in budgeting cycle and monitoring monthly actuals

  • Mentor OpXs including providing feedback mentoring performance completing Mid-Season Check Ins and End of Season Reviews.

  • Host village meetings to help connect field staff to company provide informational tips and foster good morale.

  • Serve as vital communication link between field and office. Keep up with company and departmental communication.

  • Recruit review applications and make hiring recommendations for Field Experts with a focus on OpX applicants

  • Onboard and support new OpXs in region

  • Provide real time crisis management for on-trip issues including supporting the weekend on-call team.

  • Provide high-level support for Field Staff in the region with a focus on TPS partnering with LD Mangers LDLs and Field Operations Managers.

  • Proactively look for ways to improve region quality. Review and respond to Field Staff feedback. Provide feedback and ideas to Field Operations Managers. Plan create and update all aspects of region quality including FSH and warehouse research by mentoring and working closely with OpXs.

  • Partner with the OpX to build and maintain strong relationships with Field Staff House and Warehouse landlords.

  • Help provide Field Staff House and Warehouse solutions to meet demands of trip capacity working with Trip Development

  • Provide guidance to Scheduling Team on OpX Schedules including OpX deliverables

  • Facilitate segments at trainings for OpXs including FIeld Expert Training at BLUE and Quality Summit

COSTA RICA SPECIFIC RESONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinating shipping from the hub

  • Coordinate EOSM and equipment requests from the hub

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience in Operations or prior Operations Expert (OpX) experience .

  • Extensive Leading or TPS experience in the area preferred

  • Strong understanding of OpX Program

  • Experience in Leadership Development as a mentor is strongly preferred

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills including proven feedback skills via FTR feedback on trips and with co-leaders

  • Analytical skills preferred but not

  • Ability to multi-task and handle a multitude of details associated with trip planning; meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong relationship coordination and problem-solving skills

  • Cost management abilities

  • Systems and database skills

  • Understanding the connection from office to trip to leader to guest and ensuring quality at every step is paramount

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel & Word

  • Excellent verbal communication skills including training and speaking in front of groups

  • Understanding local language is a plus

ELIGIBILITY COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Compensation to be determined based on experience and qualifications

  • Eligible to lead 1-3 trips during seasonality as agreed upon by your manager

  • Eligible to join our group medical dental and vision plans

  • Backroads will cover vehicle accommodation and some food costs for business purposes when conducting field visits or traveling for work. You are responsible for providing your own housing vehicle & food when working from your base.

  • Regions listed are subject to change from season to season based on growth and demand.
