Pay Grade/Pay Range:Minimum: $15.48 - Midpoint: $18.56 (Hourly N2)

Normal Work Schedule:Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
Job Summary:The Laboratory Assistant prepares and equips teaching labs for daily classes. Maintains repairs and cleans labs and lab equipment.
Additional Department Summary:Assists in the weekly break-down set-up and maintenance of the teaching laboratories. Prepares specimens media reagents and solutions to specification for use in teaching laboratories. Propagates and maintains plant animal (invertebrate) protist and bacterial cultures for teaching laboratories. Tracks and maintains the laboratory inventory of equipment chemicals and supplies. Tracks and manages biological and chemical laboratory waste. Assigns tasks to undergraduate student workers (maximum of 2) as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Coordinator.
Required Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience; OR associates degree and some experience.
Skills and Knowledge:Excellent communication skills. Ability to work as a team member and independently are also needed.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Biological Science Biology Microbiology Botany or Chemistry. Experience in a laboratory.
