The Learning Teaching & Curriculum (LTC) division sits within the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & Student Life) portfolio at the University of Wollongong. Working in flexible responsive multidisciplinary teams LTC works in partnership with stakeholders to drive innovation and sector-leading practice in learning and teaching for the benefit of our students and to secure UOWs position at the forefront of higher education excellence.

The Educational Design team within LTC are responsible for the design development and implementation of digital pedagogies strategies and technologies into teaching and curriculum with a strong emphasis on quality assessment design and innovation.

The team currently has an opportunity for a full time ongoing Educational Designer (Curriculum Transformation) based at our Wollongong campus.

About the role

The Educational Designer (Curriculum Transformation) supports the design and implementation of curriculum initiatives that transform learning and teaching practices experiences and environments across a range of diverse disciplines and delivery modes.

This role focuses on the design of high-quality curriculum at the learning experience subject course and cross-unit levels. It supports the design and mapping of learning outcomes assessments and teaching practices that align with strategic institutional priorities and leverages the affordances of technology to enhance curriculum design and delivery. The role also contributes to shaping curriculum transformation priorities and innovating models and practices that enhance learning design efficiency delivery effectiveness and the overall quality of the student learning experience.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in Education Instructional Design or an area relevant to teaching and learning; or a combination of relevant experience and/or education/training deemed to be equivalent.
  • Experience designing and/or reviewing curriculum to enhance or transform learning and teaching outcomes experiences and environments (e.g. facilitating constructive alignment assessment security assurance of learning technology-enhanced learning inclusive design and academic integrity).
  • Strong learning design and curriculum development knowledge supported by a well-developed understanding of educational theories models and principles and approaches to pedagogy and research that inform best practice in learning teaching and assessment across a range of modes (including online blended and hybrid).
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with the ability to identify gaps synthesise complex educational data and inform strategic curriculum decisions and innovative teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing designing delivering and evaluating training and/or staff professional development and associated resources in the higher education sector (e.g. workshops modules programs subjects courses events)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sector-wide and discipline-specific education trends and emerging learning and teaching challenges and strategies for curriculum design transformation and innovation (including awareness of opportunities for new technologies e.g. generative artificial intelligence).
  • Demonstrated authoring skills and experience working with educational platforms (e.g. Moodle) and digital technologies to design robust and inclusive learning teaching and curriculum practices across a range of educational contexts and modes.
  • High-level organisational time and project management skills including the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy flexibility agility and collaboration in successfully planning leading implementing and evaluating projects and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships provide and receive constructive feedback and collaborate productively within multidisciplinary teams.
