Pay Rate: $12-15 depending on experience
Key Components:
This position is reserved for Federal Work Study (FWS) students only. The Communications Coordinator will work with GWLS staff to create engaging digital social media and written content that promotes our mission and services. This role includes helping develop communication strategies creating content for fundraising and increasing our visibility across platforms. The coordinator will play a key role in supporting our mission to provide affordable accessible legal services for all in our community.
- In a student employee capacity may assist in working with external community service partners.
- Assist in developing and executing communication and social media strategies
- Create and schedule engaging content for GWLS social media accounts ( e.g. Instagram Facebook Linkedln TikTok others)
- Draft and edit newsletters press releases blog posts and donor communications
- Design marketing materials such as flyers graphics and event promotions
- Help maintain and update the GWLS website
- Capture photos and video at events or clinics for storytelling and outreach
- Support donor and community engagement efforts through targeted messaging
- Collaborate with staff to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all platforms
- Must be federal work study eligible
Job Description:

- May assist with various projects activities or tasks related to community projects
- May contribute to developing and maintaining good relationships with internal and external partners
- May serve as a source to provide information about resources and assistance related to community program(s) or service(s)
- May serve to enhance outreach for the greater Waco community
- Ensure confidentiality of all pertinent information
- May prepare and present information in a group or workshop setting
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylors mission
- Ability to comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
Qualifications:
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Experience with social media platforms and basic design tools (e.g. Canva Adobe)
- Interest in nonprofit work social justice or communications
- Ability to manage time meet deadlines and work independently
- Experience working in and among diverse communities and settings
