Job Description Summary
The Wilkinson Undergraduate Student Peer Academic Advisor will support the Wilkinson College Academic Advisor. They will follow and enforce all Chapman University and Academic Advising office policies principles and guidelines when working with undergraduate students in Wilkinson College. They will assist the Wilkinson College Academic Advisor with undergraduate student meetings and communication.
Responsibilities
Supports academic advisors with promptly answering undergraduate students questions via email daily and during scheduled appointments several times a week. Communicates academic policies and provide guidance. Understands and communicates to undergraduate students the implications of the program plan and degree progress and particularly the impact of changing academic plans to these goals. Understands interprets and enforces University policies while exploring academic and professional options. Advise all Wilkinson College majors and minor students and communicates relevant information from the College. Works closely with the academic advisor for any additional support for all students in Wilkinson College. Aids in retention of undergraduate students from first-year to graduation; regularly advise undergraduate students on academic policies and procedures scheduling major coursework four-year plans degree requirements academic possibilities (majors minors and choosing appropriate electives); Supports the undergraduate students transitions into college. Serves as an agent of referral for undergraduate students providing them with information on accessing University resources and campus agencies to help with personal problems and/or crisis management as necessary. Manages students during drop-in hours and answers general questions during peak times. Works with academic advisors to keep student communications efficiently organized and quickly answered. Other duties as assigned.

Previous Undergraduate Student employee at Chapman worked directly with undergraduate students.
