Engagement Worker - Safe Night Spaces

We are seeking a part time Engagement Worker to work in our Safe Night Space team. The successful candidate will work on a 4 on 4 off roster between the hours of 11:30pm - 07:00am.
The Womens Safe Night Space has been developed by Ruah Community Services and this exciting innovative program requires dynamic and enthusiastic team members to work alongside the established and well-functioning Ruah Centre which has been supporting rough sleepers for over 60 years.
The Ruah Safe Night Space has been developed to respond to the urgent need for a safeand culturally securenight spacefor womensleepingroughin may includechronically street-present women(rough sleepers)womenescaping family and domestic violencewho would otherwise face being forced onto the streetsandwomenawaiting placement in transitional or long-term accommodation.
Please note that this position involves shift work working night shifts weekends and public holidays with relevant penalty rates applying.
This is a part time maximum-term contract working 45.6 hours per fortnight with a maximum term date of 30 June 2026.
The successful applicants will be required to meet the following criteria:
Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to the vision mission core values and the guiding principles of the organization.
Completion of a relevant qualification (certificate III/IV) and/or relevant work experience (at least 2 year) or Degree qualification.
Ability to engage with individuals within different levels of needs and build and maintain a professional relationship.
A high level of understanding of the Housing First principles and how they relate to people experiencing homelessness in their transition to permanent long-term housing.
Demonstrated understanding and experience working with issues facing people who experience chaotic life circumstances such as homelessness AOD use family and domestic violence and mental health issues.
Relevant experience and demonstrated skill in providing support services to people experiencing disadvantage.
Ability to work independently and contribute to the functioning of the team.
Ability to model positive behaviours emotional maturity coping skills and resilience.
