About the Role
This role delivers front line services to farmers and community within Hunter LLS that help them manage our landscapes to be healthy and productive including the provision of natural resource management information advice and extension services. You will be expected to develop and deliver river and or catchment management projects provide advice to landholders and deliver services that have positive environmental outcomes on-ground.
To be successful in this role you will have a genuine interest in riparian rehabilitation and capability to deliver extension services that engage rural landholders and industries in riparian practice change. An understanding of the principles of natural resource management associated with riverine environments is highly desirable. This role will work in either the upper or lower Hunter districts.
Key Outcomes
- Provide effective field-based advisory technical and extension services that support rural landholders and community groups to improve riparian estuary and land management practices.
- Deliver onground catchment based projects that improve river health and resilience.
- Coordinate events and initiatives that engage the community and build capacity in improving rivers and catchments.
- Support and work with senior staff to plan implement and review projects and services.
- Effective liaison and partnerships with key stakeholders including landholders community groups industry and agencies to address complex natural resource and agricultural practice change issues.
- Deliver onground riparian vegetation improvement projects including project budget and contract management according to procurement and operational guidelines and legislative requirements.
- Project management monitoring evaluation and reporting.
Role Requirements
- Relevant knowledge and understanding in agriculture environmental natural resource management biosecurity and or emergency management
- Ability and willingness to undertake a police check and medical clearance
- Current NSW Drivers Licence and the ability and willingness to travel
- Riparian native vegetation and or catchment management based experience and/or relevant knowledge
- High level communication coordination and negotiation skills.
- Good team work and ability to work independently.
- High level of customer service relevant to working with landholders and liaising with external stakeholder groups.
- Good project management skills including planning reporting and monitoring.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results with accountability.
- Ability to use computer-based mapping programs such as ArcGIS.
- Native vegetation and or river geomorphology identification skills desirable.
