Position summary:
- Under supervision and direction from Painter II or Lead: Prep sandblast and apply protective and/or decorative paint finishes to prepared surfaces on a variety of products to meet specifications.
- Formulate test mix and apply liquid coatings to meet specifications.
Core Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Follows all policies and guidelines regarding workplace safety and product quality.
- Preparation of surfaces for painting includes sanding cleaning off contaminants and taping areas not to be painted.
- Reads and understands paint specifications and product data sheets for a variety of paint manufacturers.
- Selects and properly mixes paint for project according to specifications.
- Keeps work area paint equipment and tools clean orderly and in good working condition.
- Contributes to division results and performance.
- Take care of internal and external customer needs and expectations.
Formal Education-Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
Knowledge & Experience-Required:
- Must be familiar with conventional and painting techniques specific to manufacturing needs.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints technical manuals charts and schematics.
- Must be dependable and work effectively under pressure often independently.
- Must be able to pass a yearly pulmonary function test.
- Preferred: Experience in a manufacturing job shop environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit stand hear and see on a constant basis.
- Must be able to walk write and type on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
- Must be able to bend carry reach push and pull on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
- May work indoors and outdoors as needed.
- Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees.
- May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.
- May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
- Work surfaces may include concrete.
- Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
- 1-3 years experience
