Job Description

Position Summary
Career Readiness Learning Objectives: Communication- The student worker will gain skills and knowledge in communication by working at the job site with Family Services professional staff. Equity and Inclusion: The student worker will work in an environment that engages with people from different local and global cultures. They will support the organizations mission in creating mentoring relationships. This position is for a student to work with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Family Services of NWPA . The student will work under the direction of the Family Services staff and will assist the organization in advancing their mission and meeting client needs. Big Brothers Big Sisters of NWPA believes in creating and supporting meaningful mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. They serve children ages 6 and up. The staff match youth with adults with common interests. Bigs (adults) are expected to be a companion a positive role model a friend a listener an instructor a resource and a guide. The staff supports the matches with monthly events check-in calls and hosting of fundraiser activities. This is the number one mentoring program in the country. As a Program Assistant the primary responsibility is to assist the staff in coordinating youth programming. More information on the organization can be found at Demands
Some physical demands may be necessary as part of role and program the student worker is assigned to work on.

Required Qualifications
Students must qualify through filing a FAFSA and have an unmet financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. The student must be able to provide their transportation to and from the job site.

Preferred Qualifications
An interest in working with youth. Willing to commit up to 20 hours per week based on their schedule. -Self-starter motivated. -Excellent interpersonal communication and listening skills. -Comfortable working with a diverse population and client base.
