As a valued contributor to our team you will design develop test and/or maintain unprecedented hardware technology and/or process solutions to solve complex or unusual business issues across projects programs and/or products.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

The Principal Enterprise Architect Policy Standards and Governance is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director of Enterprise Architecture Strategy and Governance. This position serves as the authoritative lead for Fannie Maes Enterprise Architecture Policies Standards and Procedures (EA PSP) ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory requirements (e.g. FHFA mandates) board directives and strategic business priorities.

This role is responsible for leading the lifecycle of EA PSPsfrom development and regulatory alignment to stakeholder socialization and approval through the Technology Risk addition to maintaining policy relevance the role must design and implement practical governance processes that enable technology and business teams to comply with EA PSPs efficiently. This includes defining and managing exception request workflows guiding constituents through compliance enablement and overseeing remediation efforts when PSP gaps or violations are identified.

As a designated Enterprise Architecture Review Board (ARB) Approver this individual must also have deep architecture expertise to review architecture artifacts submitted for approval. They will evaluate submissions for adherence to architectural standards and provide precise actionable feedback to architects for remediation or revision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the ongoing development maintenance and regulatory alignment of EA Policies Standards and Procedures.
  • Monitor changes in FHFA mandates board directives and strategic objectives to proactively update PSP content and compliance guidance.
  • Design and operationalize governance processes that enable stakeholders to implement PSPs seamlessly across the architecture lifecycle.
  • Define and manage exception request and tracking processes ensuring transparency accountability and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee remediation plans for PSP non-compliance or policy gaps partnering with business and technology teams to address issues effectively.
  • Act as an Enterprise Architecture Review Board (ARB) Approver evaluating architecture artifacts for policy adherence and sound design.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and authoritative input into enterprise-level architecture decisions.
  • Engage and influence stakeholders across Risk Audit Architecture and Delivery to drive consistent application of architectural governance.
  • Continually update and optimize EA PSP governance processes; partner with Integrated Risk Management (IRM Line 1) and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM Line 2) to identify control or monitoring gaps. Lead remediation activities and enhance process orchestration through digital workflows when needed.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experiences

  • 8 years of progressive experience in enterprise governance domains
  • Proven track record in developing and governing enterprise-level policies standards and procedures in highly regulated environments.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks particularly FHFA mandates and ability to translate them into architectural governance requirements.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams risk partners and senior leadership.
  • Hands-on experience designing governance processes and using digital orchestration tools to automate compliance workflows.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to evaluate architecture artifacts identify gaps and guide teams toward remediation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to synthesize complex policy and architecture requirements for diverse audiences.
  • Bachelors degree (masters degree preferred).
  • TOGAF ITIL or similar enterprise architecture experience strongly preferred.

The hiring range for this role is set forth below. Final salaries will generally vary within that range based on factors that include but are not limited to skill set depth of experience certifications and other relevant qualifications.
