Job Title: Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) *ONE YEAR ONLY - Grant Funded	Location:Westerly High School
Class Title: Non-Union Non Exempt	Effective Date:09/02/2025
Salary Range:Hourly rate (commensurate with experience)	Hours: 15 hours

*This position is for the 25-26 SY only.

Position Overview:

Westerly High School is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) to assist our aviation instructor in delivering a high school-level aviation curriculum. This unique educational opportunity is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of aviation flight theory and aeronautical decision-making and to help prepare them for advanced aviation studies or careers in the aviation industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in delivering FAA-aligned aviation instruction as part of a high school-level aviation program
Support classroom and simulator-based instruction
Provide mentoring and support for students interested in aviation careers
Collaborate with the lead instructor to enhance the curriculum and create engaging age-appropriate lessons
Ensure a safe inclusive and supportive learning environment

Required Qualifications:

Valid Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate
Strong knowledge of FAA regulations flight instruction principles and general aviation topics
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills especially with high school-aged students
Ability to work collaboratively in an educational setting
Must pass a background check as required by the school district

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with youth or in an educational setting
Familiarity with flight simulators and aviation education technology
CFII or additional FAA ratings a plus

Authorized to work in the USA
Current national background check without disqualifying results at time of hire.
