SUPPORT SERVICES SPECIALIST

Salary: $25.48 / Non-Exempt

Full Time: Monday to Friday: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

** Hybrid - Office/Field and Home

*** Majority of our positions are remote but services are provided either hybrid or in person

SHIELDSmission is to develop deliver and evaluate culturally sensitive comprehensive service models that empower and advocate for high-risk families in South Los Angeles.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Providing linkage and referral to clients self-referred and referred by other professionals.
  • Provide linkage and referrals to clients and their families in accordance with appropriate level of service.
  • Coordinate support services including but not limited to linking clients to auxiliary services and assisting clients and their families with accessing appropriate resources.
  • Coordinating support services for clients to address identified needs.
  • Coordinate and maintain appropriate service provision with referral source i.e. Department of Children and Family Services or Community Agencies.
  • Enter program data in electronic database including updated community resources client information client contact and generate reports.
  • Provide individuals/families with supportive counseling services at a minimum of twice a month more if needs to support individual/family.
  • Complete client visits in their home community and at agency offices.
  • Maintaining client charts notes assessments and other needed documentation on Exym data system.
  • Respond to requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with local linkage and referral agencies.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of existing community programs and resources the services provided and eligibility requirements.
  • Maintain caseload documentation in compliance with all agency policies and procedures as well as federal state county and local regulations.
  • Attend all meetings in-service and outside trainings as required.
  • Assist with the coordination of program events and activities
  • Attend weekly supervision with supervisor program staff meetings and program events.
  • Engage in Outreach events internally at Shields and externally in the community.
  • Facilitate processing groups and maintain documentation of group attendance and CCF data requirements.
  • Maintaining weekly schedule and share with supervisor.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrate commitment to team objectives and SHIELDS For Families philosophies.
  • Adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
  • Provides services within a culturally sensitive ethnic informed model of practice and is respectful to the community and clients.
  • Experience with substance abuse and an under-served population is preferred. Have access to reliable transportation.
  • This position may require the employee to be co-located at one of the SHIELDS Family Resource Centers throughout SPA 6.
  • A valid California drivers license is required for this position as driving is an essential function of the role and is required for field work client crisis response and emergencies. Avalid car insurance and registration is required.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required. May request medical or religious exemption if applicable.

This job is typically met with a Bachelors degree and one year of experience or a High School diploma with three years of experience providing direct services in social services or related field. Experience with high risk families/children and demonstrated therapeutic skills through prior education training and work experience.
