Part-Time and Temporary; 2.0 Hours/Day (3:50 PM - 5:50 PM)
Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain the certification requirements as established by the Virginia Department of Education
- Must possess a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education
- Knowledge of current research and best practices in the fields of reading and mathematics
Nature of Position
This is specialized work performed in a school after normal school hours.
Examples of Duties
The minimum performance expectations include but are not limited to the following functions/tasks:
- Teaches reading and/or mathematics to small groups of scholars in a classroom utilizing acceptable teaching methods.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material that meet the needs of the assigned group.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experience so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Evaluates the academic progress of the assigned scholars.
- Communicates with all 21st CCLC stakeholders to discuss student progress and provide feedback on the programs initiatives.
- Participates cooperatively with the 21st CCLC Site Coordinators and other staff members.
- Work involves exposure to normal everyday hazards encountered in a school.
- Work is performed in a classroom and involves no unusual demands.
- Creativity and out of the box experiences for reading and math are encouraged.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching.
- Ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and to prepare well-written reports.
- Ability to interact effectively with students staff administrators parents and community.
