THE POSITION
- Washington County Public Health Division within the Department of Health and Human Services is hiring aSpanish Bilingual Home Visiting Public Health Nurse IIto join theMaternal Child and Family (MCF) Branch.

About the OpportunityThis position provides public health nurse home visits to families in the Family Connects Program who are receiving a home visit(s) shortly after this position you would typically provide two home visits in a day with time to prepare and document before and after these visits. You will provide multiple assessments to both birthing parent and baby to assess health needs resources and ways to support. Before the visit you will communicate with the client to confirm the appointment preview records and gather supplies needed. The activities done during a home visit include weighing and measuring the baby taking blood pressure of mom assessing postpartum depression support and resource needs assessing interpersonal violence conducting safety assessments reviewing needs for ongoing home visiting support making any referrals or plans for follow up visits etc. You will then document your visits in the electronic medical record for both mom and baby enter data into the preferred data system follow up on referrals supply needs and provide case management.
Regular meetings occur weekly for the Family Connects Team and monthly for the whole Maternal Child & Family teams. Most nurses are currently working four 10-hour work schedule Monday - Thursday. This position must have the CPR certification and will be required to complete training specific to the Family Connects program. Due to the responsibilities of this role this position is not eligible for remote work.

The ideal candidate is passionate about working with new parents and their babies. They are comfortable working independently serving diverse families throughout the county. They have experience working in a home setting and caring for postpartum and parenting families. They also have familiarity with community resources preferably that are available in the Washington County.
Bilingual Positions:
Designated bilingual positions require the incumbents to possess Spanish bilingual skills including precise writing skills (including spelling grammar and punctuation) fluent speaking skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.Upon successfully passing the applicable proficiency assessment test(s) in a selected language positions that are eligible for the bilingual differential pay will offerin an amount of 5% of the base pay rate or a flat rate of seventy-five ($75) per pay period whichever is greater.Pay periods are every two weeks.Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they can perform every job description task. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following minimum qualifications to be considered:- A Bachelors Degree from an accredited school of nursing;
OR - An Associates Degree or Diploma in nursing college-level coursework in the social sciences and additional nursing training within a public health curriculum including completion of a Public Health Nursing Certificate program (or equivalent); ANDTwo (2) years increasingly responsible experience in community or public health nursing or related settings.
ADDITIONAL LICENSES CERTIFICATES PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND SPECIALTY REQUIREMENTS- Possession of a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Oregon or ability to obtain license within 30 days of appointment.
