Thorne Harbour Health is seeking an empathetic early career Mental Health Counsellor to deliver high-quality therapeutic counselling to LGBTQIA people and people living with or affected by HIV. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a specialist mental health service while receiving ongoing clinical and operational supervision.
About the role
In this role you will:
Deliver client-centred counselling interventions to clients presenting with mild to moderate mental health needs.
Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop treatment plans under the guidance of senior clinicians.
Support clients exploring gender identity and connect them with gender affirmation services.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including AOD family violence peer workers and clinical professionals.
Contribute to group programs and mental health-focused community initiatives.

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
A tertiary qualification in social work counselling psychology or occupational therapy (and eligibility for membership of a relevant body such as AASW PACFA APS ACA).
A passion for working with LGBTQIA people in a respectful and affirming way.
Willingness to grow your skills in trauma-informed culturally safe counselling practices.
Experience (or a strong interest in developing skills) in assessment care planning and delivering evidence-based interventions.
Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
A valid SA driver licence.
