Job Description:
Summary:
Reporting directly to the Principal Investigator the Research Associate drives all aspects of project planning for multiple research projects in a dynamic layered team setting.
The Research Associate applies extensive scientific and management methodologies specific to the laboratory with scientific vigor advancing research efforts and minimizing research development risks with regard to quality timelines and funding.
This is a fixed term part-time position (approximately 9.25 hours/week) with a current end date of one year from the date of hire with a possibility for extension based upon available funding.
Job Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Masters degree in related field required (Ph.D. preferred)
At least 10 years of relevant laboratory experience
High level of independent skill in all techniques used in the lab including tissue culture dissection immunofluorescent microscopy biochemistry and western blotting is required.
And/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Competencies
Demonstrated ability to design and analyze experimental protocols; data analysis skills
Excellent writing skills; experience writing grant proposals and contributing to scientific publications
Laboratory management experience including training of other laboratory members.
Ability to communicate accurately professionally effectively and confidently at all levels of the lab and the extended organization.
Occasionally the person in this position might be exposed to allergens while in the laboratory. May encounter strong odors from research or research animals.
