Do you take pride in keeping things running smoothly and efficiently The Medford Police Department is hiring a Fleet and Equipment Services Assistant to help support the operation of its fleet and specialized this part-time behind-the-scenes role youll transport patrol vehicles coordinate maintenance with local vendors and manage critical police equipment all while learning the ins and outs of public safety operations.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
  • Must be 18 years or older by date of application.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in fleet maintenance or vehicle maintenance.
  • Prior experience working with emergency vehicles.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification.
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification.

Flexible Schedule:

  • Part-time: Less than 20 hours per week MondayThursday between 7:00 AM 5:00 PM (schedule based on employee availability and department need)

Compensation & Information on Benefits

The anticipated hiring range for the Fleet and Equipment Services Assistantposition is $19.92(first step) to $20.91or $21.96(second or third step).The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education experience andqualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act.Three steps are included in this salary range allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Performs work indoors in an office environment with regulated and minimal environmental conditions. This role involves significant amounts of time spent sitting at a desk working on a computer. The noise level is typically moderate to medium. When outdoor work is required you will be exposed to the elements (rain heat cold). Position operates a motorized vehicle. The outside work environment can include walking on uneven terrain stairs and sloped grades within the parking garage. This environment may also include interactions with the public.

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to accomplish each of the essential job functions satisfactorily. This position involves extended periods of sitting and standing with occasional walking crouching bending stooping twisting turning and balancing. This position may require carrying or lifting no more than 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to operate a variety of automated office machines which include a computer printer copy machine calculator telephone etc.
