Job Description

Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is accepting applications for the Practical Nursing Adjunct Instructor position to work at the TCAT Knoxville Main Campus. This position will typically work 18 to 30 hours per week.

POSITION SUMMARY: To provide quality instruction for student learning and to maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom. The major emphasis will be placed on teaching and evaluating students in the classroom and laboratories.

PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM: The Practical Nursing Program is approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. Graduates will obtain a diploma in Practical Nursing and may then be eligible to take the National Council Licensing Exam for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN) used to obtain nursing licensure in Tennessee. Practical Nursing is entry-level nursing. Graduates are prepared with the background and skills to give knowledgeable basic nursing care to patients with varying degrees of physical needs. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) work under the supervision of registered nurses and doctors. Positions are available in hospitals long-term care facilities physicians offices home health agencies and various other healthcare settings.

Job Duties

  • The part-time Practical Nursing Adjunct Instructor is responsible for teaching and supervising nursing students in classroom and clinical settings evaluating and advising students maintaining and completing reports and participating in the development of the program. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing school with an active license in Tennessee as a Registered Nurse (RN); minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing required.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an RN within the last five years.

Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and teaching experience are preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication and computer skills.
Evidence of ability to plan organize and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.

SALARY: This positions rate of pay is $35.00 per hour.
