Job Description
Our client is a leading European agency responsible for supporting EU and Schengen countries in managing external borders combating cross-border crime and coordinating large-scale border control operations. With a highly trained uniformed corps deployed across land sea and air borders they work closely with national and international partners to ensure security conduct search and rescue operations and gather intelligence on criminal networks. Operating both within and outside the EU the agency leverages advanced monitoring systems and expertise to respond rapidly to evolving challenges. As part of its ongoing digital transformation it is modernising operational reporting and workforce management to enhance efficiency security and real-time decision-making.
As a Solutions Architect you will be responsible for setting the architectural vision ensuring design excellence and leading the development of enterprise-grade systems. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders technical teams and leadership to translate complex requirements into secure scalable and high-performing solutions. This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on leadership giving you the opportunity to shape technical standards and mentor development teams.

Responsibilities:
Architecture & Design
- Set standards for system design development quality and testing.
- Design and communicate system architecture ensuring interoperability with other systems.
- Translate business user and technical needs into robust architectural solutions.
- Map business goals to project benefits priorities and system features.
- Analyse existing systems and identify optimal solutions.
Leadership & Delivery
- Lead development teams and processes ensuring alignment with architectural vision.
- Select and evaluate technologies optimizing systems for performance security and quality.
- Estimate and size software development work.
- Oversee system documentation and present solutions to stakeholders.
Lifecycle & Quality Management
- Maintain and track architecture throughout the system lifecycle.
- Contribute to design testing quality assurance and change management.
- Collect and interpret system metrics to inform continuous improvements.
Requirements:
Technical Expertise
- Minimum 8 years of relevant IT experience.
- Proven track record as a key architect in at least 2 software system developments.
- Expert in enterprise-level system design capacity planning and security.
- Deep technical knowledge of databases application servers middleware GIS directory services Microsoft platforms BI and system integration.
- Expertise in UML design and software development methodologies (RUP ISO12207 Agile).
- Proficiency with modelling tools like Sparx Enterprise Architect Aris Architect or similar.
- Strong knowledge and experience in:
- Containerized applications (preferably Red Hat OpenShift).
- Designing reporting systems.
- Designing human capital management systems.
- ICT system architecture optimization.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving and leadership abilities.
- Higher education diploma.
- English at B2 level or higher.
