Duties & Responsibilities:


  1. *Responsible for setting up and providing support for the Office of Faculty Development and Academic Support (OFDAS) workshops training orientations meetings and other professional events including room arrangements and media technology.
  2. *Manages computers printers and other peripherals installed in OFDAS offices and related spaces including arranging for warranty repair conducting in-house hardware installation and repair and software maintenance.
  3. *Provides oversight of technology and classroom environment aspects of OFDAS-controlled classrooms (Sakamaki Innovation Zone Webster 101 Collaborative Classroom & Dean Hall Culture Lab) including troubleshooting service to faculty and maintaining security management protocols.
  4. *Collaborates with OFDAS team members faculty staff administrators and industry professionals to identify and communicate best practices for applying teaching and learning theories with audio-visual equipment and procedures including training faculty on the use of media technology for traditional hybrid and distance learning.
  5. *Designs and conducts training workshops and seminars for faculty in the use of media technologies in teaching.
  6. *Manages and maintains an inventory database for OFDAS asset management.
  7. *Contributes to the updating of webpages for OFDAS-controlled classroom spaces.
  8. *Trains student assistants on internal procedures and various tasks including but not limited to media-related aspects of OFDAS-controlled teaching spaces.
  9. *Maintains a high level of knowledge regarding new developments and techniques in the use of current technology and teaching practices in higher education.
  10. *Maintains professional and collegial relationships with faculty staff departments and industry professionals.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in arts social science arts and humanities science education businessInformation/Educational Technologyor related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities forinstructional media management and/or teaching; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of media technology and teaching fields as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with instructional media technology and management.
  4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
  5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing spreadsheet andpresentationsoftware (e.g. Microsoft Office applications) in both Windows and Macintosh.
  8. If applicable for supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.

  11. Possess a combination of technical analytical and organizational skills.


Desired Qualifications:


  1. Masters degree in arts social science arts and humanities science education business Information/Educational Technology or related field.
  2. Professional experience in an instructional technology-related and/or teaching support program at a post-secondary educational setting.
  3. Hands-on experience with audio-visual systems and equipment including but not limited to Wolfvision Extron OneScreen Epson and Optoma products.
  4. Familiarity with current and foundational issues involved in strategizing developing and innovating faculty development in higher education.
  5. Experience in designing and delivering training workshops for effective use of technology.
  6. Ability to develop scripts storyboards and maintain schedules for video products including videos of events workshops and training sessions and integrating these videos into teachingand research resources.
  7. Ability to operate lighting camera and editing equipment and ability to record edit and produce quality video assets.
  8. Proficiency in use of video editing software programs such as Premier Pro Final Cut Pro etc.
  9. Familiarity with the institutional culture of the University System particularly the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus.
