Summer Activity Camp Instructor- Tennis (Montlake Community Center)
The Associated Recreation Council (ARC) in partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation is hiring an Activity Camp Tennis Camp Instructor to deliver camps at Montlake Community Center. The Tennis Camp Instructor will be responsible for programming and delivering a Tennis Camp class to children aged 8-12 years. The Instructor will be responsible for creating lessons and teaching the fundamentals of Tennis. The instructor must have the ability to engage with a diverse group of children and manage a classroom of students. A passion for teaching and tennis are a must!
Schedule
- Monday Friday approx. 18.75 hours per week. 8:30am-12:15pm. Hours not guaranteed and depend on enrollment.
- Hiring by Date: June 5 2025
- Training dates: On-site training will occur sometime between June 25 and June 27 2025
- Program dates:
- June 30th July 3rd 2025
- July 14th July 18th 2025
- July 21st July 25th 2025
- July 28th August 1st 2025
Summer Activity Camp Instructor- Tennisresponsibilities:
Programming:
- Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate activity camp lesson plans/activities in the subject area of tennis for ages 8-12
- Instructors are expected to program their camps with support from the Activity Camp Administrator
- Use critical thinking to problem-solve
- Generate supply lists for camp; there will be some class supply funds available
- Maintain camp appropriate professional appearance
- Daily set-up take down and cleaning of space
- Reports to Associated Recreation Council Activity Camp Administrator
Relationship Building:
- Create a safe welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants
- Collaborate with Activity Camp Administrator and other on-site staff to ensure safety of all participants
- Collaborate with Activity Camp Supervisor to manage behavioral concerns of all participants
- Communicate with parents coworkers and Seattle Parks and Recreation partners in a professional and courteous manner
- Attend all required meetings and trainings
Care and Safety:
- Follow safety protocols and ensure participant compliance
- Complete required accident/incident forms
Summer Activity Camp Instructor- Tennisminimum qualification:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Prior youth programming experience required
- Prior tennis experience required
- If hired you will have approximately 2 hours of Human Resources new hire onboarding/trainingand 8-12 hours of on-site on-boarding/training which will include behavior management programming parent communication reporting procedures etc.
- If hired must successfully complete/pass a background check
- If hired must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US and valid government issued ID andsign up for direct deposit with either checking or savings account.
Additional Preferred Requirements
- Preference given to instructors available for all or most of the summer however if you can only work for some of the summer weeks you are still encouraged to apply
- Preference given to candidates who have led comparable programs for youth
Pay:
- Starting pay: $26.50
- Full Pay Range: $26.50- $29.36/hourDOE/non-exempt
