Job Description


POSITION SUMMARY


This role offers an excellent introduction to foundational accounting practices within a business environment. It is designed to provide hands-on learning in key areas such as accounts receivable posting revenue recognition and the importance of maintaining accurate backup documentation. The position supports the development of a strong understanding of basic accounting processes and internal controls.

As part of the learning experience the individual will work closely with various members of the accounting team gaining exposure to different functions and workflows. This collaborative environment fosters both technical skill development and a broader understanding of how accounting supports overall business operations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in processing direct bill commission payments from insurance carriers including identifying and researching discrepancies. Collaborate with Account Managers to ensure accurate and timely resolution of payment issues gaining insight into reconciliation and interdepartmental communication.
  • Support daily bank deposit preparation and cash application including the handling of checks electronic payments (ACH wire transfers) and other incoming funds. Learn to accurately apply payments to customer accounts and understand the importance of timely and precise financial recording in maintaining accurate financial statements.
  • Scan and upload financial and operational documents into the electronic filing system ensuring accurate categorization and accessibility. Develop an understanding of the critical role that backup documentation plays in supporting financial accuracy and internal controls.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but is expected to mentor new team members and collaborate with team members when appropriate. Promptly inform a supervisor of all matters that may give rise to an E&O claim


COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Starting pay for this nonexempt position is $20/hour.


Requirements


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Work Experience

College students pursuing Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 1 year of college coursework completed.

Language

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization.


Mathematical

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Computer Skills

This position requires use of the following software or applications:

Word Processing Spreadsheets Internet Email Database and Order Processing


Certificates Licenses Registrations

  • Requires current Colorado drivers license and acceptable MVR

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms under 1/3 of the time
  • Must be able to use hands to finger handle or feel talk or hear sit over 2/3 of the time
  • Requires the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. less than 1/3 of the time
  • Work environment while in the office is moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers moderate traffic)
