Description

Under general supervision from the Maintenance Manager the Maintenance/Transportation Technician duties include overall custodial building and grounds maintenance repair functions and serves as backup to the Transportation Driver. The Maintenance/Transportation Technician will perform janitorial and maintenance duties at all Clover facilities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides maintenance and minor repairs to plumbing electrical HVAC and sprinkler systems; may perform routine carpentry work.
  • Washes windows screens sills woodwork doors desks walls and ceilings.
  • Orders and stocks needed materials and supplies.
  • Cleans sweeps mops scrubs waxes and polishes floors by hand or machine; cleans carpet upholstery and furniture.
  • Cleans and sanitizes rest rooms dusts and vacuums rooms and locks and unlocks doors; moves equipment and furniture.
  • Collects and disposes of waste maintains outside sidewalks and assists in keeping outside premises in an orderly condition.
  • Performs some repairs and maintenance of buildings by patching walls and doors painting walls and trim and replacing fixtures and partitions; replaces damaged ceiling and floor tiles repairs carpet.
  • Facilitate and monitor contractors vendors and agency inspectors as they perform applicable task within the facilities.
  • Drives agencys vehicles to perform assigned tasks.
  • Adheres to all job-related safety regulations which includes the proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment).
  • Setting up and taking down tables chairs and other related inventory for events meetings classes and programs etc.).
  • Must work emergency overtime as required.
  • Flexibility to work different hours as the work situation warrants. (Please note that all schedules are reviewed periodically and may be subject to change).
  • A member of Facilities Operations Essential Personnel responsible for participation in pre post- hurricane and other emergency events.
  • In the absences of the Transportation Driver transport participants to and from the agency each day to grocery store each week and to medical appointments and to field trips as needed.
  • Performs related work as required

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of cleaning and waxing compounds heating and ventilating equipment irrigating systems floor buffers and custodial equipment and basic tools utilized in building maintenance; considerable knowledge of maintenance and repair work; thorough knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures.
  • Skill in the operation of a variety of hand tools.
  • Ability to safely and appropriately use the agency bus lift and assist participants entering and exiting agency vehicles.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and able to pass a drug test annually or as otherwise required.
  • Ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions make routine decisions independently sustain long periods of light to moderately heavy physical activity and work harmoniously with others.
  • Adheres to agency policies and procedures.
Requirements

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma/GED and/or training and minimum two (3) year experience in custodial building maintenance or general labor.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Louisiana drivers license.
  • Possess and maintain a valid CDL with Passenger Endorsement (P).
  • Two years experience driving a bus as public transportation or in a social service setting.
  • Ability to learn and safely use the lift on agency buses.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions fumes or airborne particles and toxic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
