About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and hands-on Assistant Manager HR & Safety (Environment) to oversee human resources operations while ensuring a safe and compliant work environment in our manufacturing facility. This role requires a balance of people management skills and expertise in workplace safety & environmental compliance supporting both office staff and shop-floor teams.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources
- Manage recruitment for factory and office staff including sourcing interviewing and onboarding.
- Oversee payroll attendance and leave management systems.
- Ensure compliance with labour laws employee contracts and company policies.
- Address employee relations issues grievances and disciplinary matters.
- Organize training and skill development programs for staff and workers.
- Drive employee engagement activities to improve morale and retention.
Safety & Environment
- Implement and monitor workplace safety and environmental protection measures in line with local regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular safety inspections risk assessments and hazard identifications.
- Lead safety awareness sessions emergency drills and training programs.
- Investigate accidents/incidents and recommend preventive measures.
- Ensure compliance with environmental standards such as waste management pollution control and sustainability initiatives.
- Maintain up-to-date safety documentation audit records and compliance reports.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management Industrial Relations Environmental Science or related field.
- 6-8 years of HR experience preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan labour laws workplace safety regulations and environmental compliance.
- Excellent leadership interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both management and shop-floor teams.
- HSE certifications or manufacturing industry HR experience will be an added advantage.

- OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
- ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
- Sri Lankan Factories Ordinance and Environmental Protection regulations
- Industry-specific safety protocols for machinery operation hazardous materials handling and PPE compliance
