Trainee Paralegal Commercial Property
Location: Stamford Lincolnshire
Salary: Dependent on experience
Hours: Full time Monday-Friday 9.00am-5.15pm (36.25 hours per week)
A highly regarded law firm is seeking a Trainee Paralegal to join its busy Commercial Property team in Stamford. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop their career in commercial property law with full training and support provided.
The Role
The successful candidate will assist with a wide range of commercial property transactions and related matters. You will be expected to work to tight deadlines manage competing priorities and deliver excellent client service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Liaising with clients and assisting with enquiries
- Supporting leasehold and freehold acquisitions and disposals
- Drafting and reviewing leases rent deposit deeds and various licences (alterations lease assignments and underletting)
- Conducting due diligence including title investigations and preparing reports on title or lease summaries
- Undertaking and reporting on property searches
- Liaising with agents and utility companies regarding easements and transfers
- Assisting with auction packs
- Managing exchange completion and post-completion tasks including Stamp Duty Land Tax and Land Registry applications
- Ensuring balances are cleared and files are closed at the end of a matter
Additional Responsibilities
- Providing ongoing service to existing clients
- Assisting colleagues to develop new business opportunities
- Supporting the growth of the Commercial Property department and encouraging cross-referrals within the firm
- Achieving fee income targets in line with agreed objectives
- Keeping up to date with relevant legal developments
- Managing financial aspects of matters including billing and collection of monies on account
- Maintaining accurate records of work completed and time spent
- Ensuring compliance with quality and risk management procedures
About You
Essential:
- Law degree or equivalent work-based experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel) and strong IT skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organisational and planning abilities
- Ability to work confidently collaboratively and under pressure
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a law firm or in commercial property work
- Knowledge of case management systems
- Understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules and Money Laundering Regulations
- Experience using Visual Files case management software
