Paralegal (Commercial Property)
Location: Stamford Lincolnshire
Salary: Dependent on experience
Hours: Full time Monday-Friday 9.00am-5.15pm (36.25 hours per week)
A well-established and respected law firm is seeking an Experienced Commercial Property Paralegal to join its busy team in Stamford. This is a great opportunity to work on a wide variety of commercial property transactions and develop your expertise in a supportive and professional environment.
The Role
The successful candidate will work on a broad range of matters including:
- Liaising with clients and handling enquiries
- Assisting with leasehold and freehold acquisitions and disposals
- Drafting and reviewing leases
- Carrying out due diligence including title investigation and responding to enquiries
- Undertaking and reporting on property searches
- Liaising with agents and utility companies in relation to easements and transfers
- Preparing auction packs
- Managing exchange completion and post-completion tasks including Stamp Duty Land Tax Companies House filings and Land Registry registrations
- Ensuring balances are cleared and files are closed at the conclusion of matters
Additional Responsibilities
- Delivering ongoing service to existing clients
- Supporting colleagues to develop new business opportunities
- Contributing to the growth of the Commercial Property department and encouraging cross-referrals within the firm
- Meeting fee income targets and objectives
- Keeping up to date with changes in commercial property law and practice
- Maintaining and enhancing legal skills through ongoing professional development
- Managing financial aspects of matters including billing and collection of monies on account
- Recording work and time accurately
- Ensuring all work is carried out in line with quality and risk management procedures
About You
Essential:
- Law degree or equivalent work-based experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel) and strong IT skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Confidence in managing your own workload and meeting deadlines
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a law firm particularly in commercial property work
- Knowledge of case management systems
- Understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules and Money Laundering Regulations
- Experience using Visual Files case management software
