Job Description
This position will assist the Hampton Roads AREC biological systems engineering (BSE) group in the installation operation and maintenance of field and laboratory data collection for ongoing projects and related to improving water quantity and quality in urban agricultural or forested watersheds.
It is anticipated that the position will involve significant travel and require the ability to drive and navigate through rough terrain unassisted and after training with minimal supervision. The anticipated breakdown of activities of this position are conducting field sampling for runoff quality studies conducting laboratory analyses conducting statistical or numerical analyses or conducting computer modeling/geographic information (GIS) analyses. This is a part-time off-campus position at the Hampton Roads AREC located in Virginia Beach Virginia
Required Qualifications
Previous experience in agricultural or environmental monitoring data collection statistical analyses computer programming GIS and/or watershed modeling. Ability to navigate through rough terrain unassisted good computer skills (MSOffice MATLAB R or similar software). Ability to work outside regardless of the weather. Valid U.S. drivers license and possess an acceptable driving history and criminal background check. Must have access to a vehicle which may be required occasionally in the course of work.
