QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma with additional coursework or an associate degree in business finance or accounting preferred. The candidate should have previous experience in bookkeeping payroll or accounting support work ideally in an educational or governmental setting. A strong understanding of accounting principles payroll processing and data entry is required. Proficiency with office software and accounting systems along with excellent attention to detail is essential. The ability to communicate effectively with coworkers school-based staff and vendors as well as to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is critical for success in this role.
DESCRIPTION
The Finance Clerk performs a variety of specialized accounting and clerical duties related to division-wide payroll and financial operations. This full-performance role supports centralized processing and financial reporting in accordance with federal state and district guidelines. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate payroll records processing employee benefits updates assisting with reimbursements and supporting other financial functions as needed. The position plays an integral part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll and financial services to all employees and stakeholders of the school division.
GENERAL DUTIES (May not include all duties performed)
SUPERVISION
This position operates under the general supervision of the Director of Finance. The Finance Clerk does not supervise other staff.
WORK CONDITIONS
The Finance Clerk works in a typical office setting with frequent use of computers and standard office equipment. The role requires extended periods of sitting data entry and visual focus. The position involves frequent deadlines and interruptions requiring attention to detail and strong time management skills. The work occasionally involves bending stooping and reaching to access files and materials. The employee is expected to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality in handling sensitive payroll and financial information.
