As Associate Employee Communications Specialist here at Illumina in Cambridge UK youll be a vital part of our dynamic European Communications team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute across a broad spectrum of communications activities from internal communications and social media to press office support and event coordination. Youll collaborate closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams helping to shape and share stories that reflect our mission: to improve human health by unlocking the power of the genome. Why You
Youre a natural communicator with a passion for storytelling and a keen eye for detail. With a background in journalism public relations or a related field you bring outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a flair for engaging diverse audiences. Youre confident working independently yet thrive in a collaborative team environment. Your ability to manage multiple priorities and stay focused under pressure makes you a reliable partner in delivering high-quality communications that inform inspire and connect.
Youll also bring:
- A degree (or equivalent experience) in journalism communications public relations or a related discipline
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects
- A proactive self-motivated approach and a willingness to take initiative
Key Responsibilities Include:
Internal Communications & Leadership Engagement
- Support the development and delivery of internal communications campaigns and initiatives
- Liaise with senior leaders to craft compelling messages and updates
- Assist in the creation of content for internal channels including newsletters intranet and video
Media & Press Office Support
- Contribute to media relations efforts including drafting press releases and media pitches
- Monitor media coverage and support the press office with reactive and proactive communications
Social Media & Digital Content
- Assist in planning and creating content for Illuminas social media platforms
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment
Event Coordination
- Support the planning and execution of internal and external events
- Help manage logistics communications and post-event follow-up
General Communications Support
- Provide day-to-day support across the communications function
- Contribute creative ideas to enhance engagement and storytelling
