The Cloud Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the operational excellence security and performance of St Vincents enterprise cloud platforms and hybrid infrastructure services. The role is a hands-on position that combines strategic influence with extensive technical expertise in hybrid cloud and Microsoft Azure environments. Reporting to the Head of Cloud you will be a senior engineer and an escalation point while leading the implementation of cloud platform standards automation performance optimisation and observability practices.
This role is a critical part of St Vincents digital transformation enabling continuous improvement through automation and telemetry platform standardisation and secure workload migrations. You will play a key part in maintaining the integrity high availability and operational readiness of critical Tier 0 systems that support aged care clinical and research operations across the organisation.
This is a Permanent Full-Time position based in any of our Group Head Offices in Sydney Brisbane or Melbourne on a hybrid working arrangement 3 days a week in office and 2 days working from home. In this role there will be a requirement to work on-call as needed.
Key responsibilities of the role:
Lead a high-performing team of Infrastructure Engineers Systems Engineers and Systems Administrators
Own the day-to-day operations of cloud-based compute storage backup and integrated infrastructure services ensuring systems are resilient observable secure and optimised for performance
Take end-to-end accountability for full-stack lifecycle management platform observability patching backup compliance and incident response
Contribute to the strategic planning design and delivery of infrastructure projects including new technology implementations platform enhancements and cloud migrations
Provide subject matter expertise on Microsoft Azure cloud services operational best practices and hybrid cloud management
Manage a D&T on-call roster providing priority support and incident management outside of standard business hours on a rotating basis
Things that work for us:
Demonstrated experience in a technical leadership role with a strong background in cloud infrastructure operations
Deep expertise in managing Microsoft Azure environments including IaaS PaaS and hybrid cloud solutions
Proven experience in enterprise-scale systems and infrastructure administration with a focus on security performance and automation
Strong understanding and experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. PowerShell Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field or qualified by equivalent experience and relevant professional certifications (e.g. Microsoft Azure certifications)
